As I write this entry my editor, Jason Stelzel, is cutting away on the other side of the room trying to get my three-hour cut down to 80 minutes. So far we've agreed on the footage that's being pulled out yet it's still difficult for me to see it go in many cases. And that's why I've handed the editing over to an objective eye and a genius at condensing a rough-cut to it's leanest potential. (Jason just announced from the editing station that he cut 10 minutes from the first 18 minutes of the film. We reviewed it and it looks good. But what about those 10 hard earned minutes, hmmmm)

We decided that much of this footage will end up in the "Extras" section of the DVD release.

The date is set for the Hygienic Art Show screening in Connecticut:

Hygienic Filmwerks
Hygienic Galleries - 79-83 Bank Street, New London
screening of documentary feature “The Eagle Cries” by Bill Dumas.
Friday, January 30, screening at 8pm.

We are really scrambling to have a cut ready for the screening and hope to have completed by Sunday night. I suspect we may still be at it Tuesday night before I head back to Connecticut on Wednesday.

It looks like there will be good promotion for the screening as four local daily newspapers covering the art show.

I'm looking at this screening primarily as a fundraising event. I'll also be doing a Q&A after the screening and hopefully will get some helpful critique of the film. My uncle Bob will also be there joining in the Q&A.
